Rare Earths Americas tests depth expansion at Brazil rare earths project

Rare Earths Americas, Inc. announced updated geological modeling and a new drilling program at its Alpha Heavy Rare Earths Project in Bahia, Brazil, according to a company press release.

The Alpha Project currently holds an inferred resource of 202 million tonnes at 1,520 parts per million total rare earth oxide, hosted in an Ionic Adsorption Clay deposit. The updated modeling indicates that the existing resource boundary was limited by the depth of historical auger drilling, which averaged 16.5 meters, rather than by the actual extent of mineralization.

The modeling also indicates that the proportion of heavy rare earth elements, including dysprosium and terbium, increases with depth at the Sapucaia and Rio Preto targets. Yttrium grades exceeding 300 ppm and gadolinium grades exceeding 40 ppm were recorded to the bottom of multiple drill holes, with no evidence of grade depletion.

The company has commenced a 13,400-meter reverse circulation drilling program to test mineralization below the current resource boundary and to advance resource conversion from the inferred to indicated and measured categories. The economic significance of any deeper mineralization has not yet been established.

In parallel, Rare Earths Americas has begun environmental baseline studies required for an Environmental Impact Assessment in support of Brazilian mine permitting. The company is targeting submission of its Preliminary License application by year-end 2027, which requires approximately 12 months of environmental monitoring and data collection.

CEO Donald Swartz stated: "Historical auger drilling was effective in defining the existing resource, but in many areas, it reached its practical depth limit while mineralization was still present."

The company noted that the extent, continuity, grade distribution, metallurgical characteristics, and economic significance of any deeper mineralization remain subject to additional drilling and technical studies.
