Centrus Energy signs HALEU supply deal with Radiant for microreactors

September 9, 2026 6:50 AM

Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE: LEU) and Radiant have signed a multi-year contract under which Centrus will supply high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) to fuel multiple Kaleidos microreactors, according to a press release from the companies.

Under the agreement, Centrus will begin delivering HALEU before the end of the decade. The contract includes prepayments from Radiant to Centrus to support its domestic commercial enrichment capacity program. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Centrus' enrichment technology is U.S.-origin and relies on a U.S. manufacturing supply chain, making the HALEU it provides "unobligated," meaning it can be used for national security applications in addition to commercial purposes. The company's AC100 centrifuge design is described as the only deployment-ready U.S.-origin technology available for unobligated enrichment.

Radiant is developing transportable microreactors intended for remote locations, data centers, and defense and industrial applications. The Kaleidos reactor is currently in a test phase, with commercial and national security deployments planned for later.

"You can't deploy nuclear reactors without fuel, so we have approached our fuel supply the same way we have approached the reactor: build it in parallel, and don't depend on any single path," said Dr. Rita Baranwal, Chief Nuclear Officer of Radiant.

Amir Vexler, President and Chief Executive Officer of Centrus, said the contract "marks another important step in building the domestic fuel supply chain needed to support the next generation of nuclear energy."
