Galaxy Digital gets conditional classifications for 4.2 GW of Texas data centers
Galaxy Digital Inc. (Nasdaq: GLXY) announced that five of its Texas data center projects received conditional classifications under the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Batch Zero large load interconnection process, covering approximately 4.2 gigawatts of gross power capacity.
Two projects received Base Load classifications: Helios I at 800 megawatts and Helios II at 830 megawatts, both located at the Helios data center campus. Helios II received ERCOT approval in January 2026, before the March 4 study validation-check confirmation date. That project is scheduled to energize in 2028.
Three expansion projects received Studied Load classifications: Caspian at 700 MW, which Galaxy had submitted as Base Load; Selene at 900 MW; and Helios III at 1,000 MW. Studied Load projects are subject to capacity allocation as part of the ERCOT system-wide study, unlike Base Load projects, which are modeled in the study without further capacity allocation.
The conditional classifications follow a directive issued by the Texas governor on Aug. 3, 2026. The Public Utility Commission of Texas subsequently granted ERCOT good cause exceptions on Aug. 20, permitting conditional classification while ERCOT audits the data center projects in its interconnection queue. ERCOT expects the audit process to take several months. Galaxy said it will comply with any additional requirements resulting from the directive.
Galaxy stated its total data center development pipeline now totals more than 5.7 GW of potential power capacity across four sites. This includes a second 1,000 MW load request at Helios and a new campus called Merlin in McGregor, Texas, with potential capacity of 500 MW.
