Philips launches IPL hair removal device with audio guidance
Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG) has launched the Lumea IPL 9900 Pro, an at-home intense pulsed light hair removal device that the company claims is the first of its kind to offer real-time audio feedback and motion guidance during treatment.
The device, which has received U.S. FDA clearance, is priced at $699.95 and is available through Amazon's U.S. store. It comes with a five-year warranty upon product registration.
The Lumea IPL 9900 Pro pairs with a companion app, available on Apple and Google platforms, which tracks user movements in real time and delivers audio cues and visual prompts during sessions. The device also features SenseIQ Pro sensor technology, which reads individual skin tone and recommends a light intensity setting.
According to Philips, the device can deliver more than 90% hair reduction after three treatments, based on median results measured on legs. The company also states users can achieve up to five years of smooth-feeling skin with monthly maintenance sessions, citing a consumer perception study, with the caveat that individual results may vary.
Philips describes itself as the world's leading IPL brand by retail value and volume as of December 2025, according to a market leader research institute.
"We've taken everything we've learned from decades of light-based technology research and transformed it into an intelligent product that works with you, not against you," said Dominique Oh, Global Beauty & Grooming Business Unit Leader at Philips.
Royal Philips is headquartered in the Netherlands and reported approximately €18 billion in sales for 2025. The company employs around 63,700 people and operates in more than 100 countries.
