Healwell's Darwen AI to match clinical trials to 100K+ consented patients
Healwell AI Inc. (TSX: AIDX) (OTCQX: HWAIF) and Well Health Technologies Corp. (TSX: WELL) (OTCQX: WHTCF) announced that their shared patient consent database, WellTrust, has surpassed 100,000 patient consents since its launch in February 2026.
WellTrust is a database of Well Health patients who have expressly agreed to be contacted about clinical trials and research studies matched to their health circumstances. According to the companies, the 100,000 milestone was reached through in-clinic enrollment alone, before the activation of additional digital consent channels.
Healwell's Darwen AI platform will be used to match trial protocols against the consented patient population, connecting patients with pharmaceutical and biotech trial sponsors and contract research organizations. Consent capture is managed through OceanMD, the patient engagement platform of WellStar Technologies Corp., a Well Health subsidiary, which integrates the consent step into existing digital check-in workflows and records responses directly in patient charts.
The companies have outlined a three-phase technology roadmap. Phase 1 focuses on accelerating clinic activations and streamlining consent capture. Phase 2 involves expanding electronic medical record connectivity across Well Health's 275-clinic network and extending consent into diagnostics and telehealth. Phase 3 targets approximately one million consented patients, a full trial recruitment offering for sponsors, and international expansion including U.S. market entry and European regulatory readiness.
Derek Clark, Chief Operating Officer of Well Health, said, "Every one of the over 100,000 patient consents was given freely, and every referral that comes out of WellTrust is filtered through the patient's own clinic."
Sacha Gera, Chief Operating Officer of Healwell AI, stated that Darwen's AI is "designed to match trial protocols against a standing, consented patient population using clinical data that is continuously refreshed through connected clinic infrastructure."
