NIQ expands product intelligence tool to seven more European markets

September 8, 2026 6:33 AM

NielsenIQ (NYSE: NIQ) announced the expansion of its NIQ Product Insights (NPI) service to seven additional Western European markets: Austria, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland. The service was previously available in France, Germany, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

NPI connects product attributes — including ingredients, certifications, nutrients, and functional benefits — with NIQ's market measurement data. The tool is designed to help brands and retailers identify which product characteristics influence consumer purchasing decisions and category growth.

According to NIQ's own research, 41% of Western European consumers said they are willing to pay more for products with elevated ingredients or formulations, and 39% said they would pay more for ingredient and supply chain transparency.

NIQ data also showed that specific product attributes have outpaced broader category growth in some markets. In Germany, shampoos labeled with a "Gentle Formula" benefit grew 48%, compared with less than 1% growth for the total shampoo category. In the United Kingdom, skin cleansing products carrying a hyaluronic acid claim grew 61% and averaged £15.87 per kilogram, compared with a category average of £5.04 per kilogram.

Emilie Darolles, President of Western Europe at NIQ, said: "NIQ Product Insights helps our clients connect trusted product attributes with market performance so they can innovate faster, optimize their product strategies, and make more confident commercial decisions."

NIQ said NPI is part of its broader Connected Content strategy and its Full View product, which combines product content, structured data, and market measurement. The company said the tool is also intended to support decision-making as AI-powered shopping tools increasingly influence product discovery.

NPI is currently available in Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the seven newly added Western European markets. The information in this article is based on a company press release.
