September 2, 2026 4:10 PM

Matrix Service Company (NASDAQ: MTRX) announced it has been awarded a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for a storage tank farm at America First Refining's (AFR) planned refining facility in Brownsville, Texas.

The FEED award is described as a step toward AFR reaching a Final Investment Decision (FID) on the project. The storage tank farm is intended to support feedstock and refined product movement and storage at the facility.

AFR's Brownsville refinery, which the company claims would be the first new major refinery built in the United States in more than 50 years, is designed to process approximately 60 million barrels of domestic crude annually. The facility is planned to produce Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel, jet fuel, and specialized gasoline using 100% American light shale oil.

Matrix President and Chief Executive Officer Shawn P. Payne said: "We are proud to have been selected by America First Refining for this critical step in advancing this landmark project, which draws on our expertise in storage terminals and supports our commitment to building the foundation for America's energy future."

John Calce, Founder and Chairman of America First Refining, said: "We are proud to welcome Matrix as another world-class partner helping bring this historic project to life."

Matrix Service Company, headquartered in Houston, Texas, operates across three segments: Storage and Terminal Solutions, Utility and Power Infrastructure, and Process and Industrial Facilities. The company maintains offices throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, and South Korea.
