Verizon (NYSE/Nasdaq: VZ) said it has prepared its network infrastructure in Houston and Louisiana ahead of potential Tropical Storm Edouard, according to a company statement released Aug. 31, 2026.

The company said a significant portion of its network sites in the affected area are backed by fully refueled permanent generators with multiple days of reserve power. Sites without permanent generators have portable units available for deployment.

Verizon said its Frontline Crisis Response Team, composed primarily of former first responders and military personnel, is in contact with public safety agencies across Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana and is staging deployable assets at no cost to those agencies.

The company said customers with compatible satellite-enabled devices, including iPhone 14 or newer running iOS 18 or later, or Google Pixel 9 or newer, can use satellite messaging to send texts or contact emergency services if terrestrial networks become unavailable.

Verizon said it will continue monitoring the storm and provide network status updates as conditions develop.
