Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) announced VMware AI Factory at VMware Explore 2026 in Las Vegas, describing it as the software-defined foundation of VMware Private AI Cloud.

According to the company, the product automates hardware provisioning, software stack enablement, and lifecycle management, with the aim of reducing the time from bare metal server deployment to serving a first AI model from weeks to hours.

VMware AI Factory is built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and supports certified AI ReadyNodes from Cisco, Dell Technologies, Lenovo, and Supermicro, among others. Broadcom also announced a collaboration with AMD to pair VCF with AMD Instinct GPUs and the AMD ROCm software ecosystem.

New features announced include multi-tenant model sharing, which allows AI models to be shared between tenants through isolated namespaces; an AI Gateway for unified model governance across on-premises and cloud environments; and secure AI sandboxes designed to isolate agent-generated code execution.

Broadcom also announced a partnership with MetalSoft to integrate bare metal automation into VCF, with the stated goal of reducing bare-metal provisioning time from weeks to minutes. The integration would allow IT teams to provision physical servers from multiple vendors through the VCF management console.

VCF customers will have access to more than 150 open source and commercial AI models, including Nemotron 3, Gemma 4, Qwen 3.7-Max, and GLM 5.2, according to the press release.
