Urges More Investment in Critical Water and Wastewater Systems

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Laura Runkle, President of Virginia American Water, issued the following statement in response to the grade of C+ for drinking water and D+ for wastewater in the American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) 2026 Report Card for Virginia's Infrastructure:

These pressures reinforce the importance of continued, long-term investment in critical water and wastewater infrastructure and Virginia American Water plans to invest more than $360 million over the next 5 years to upgrade its water and wastewater systems to help ensure safe, reliable service for generations to come."
