Granite (NYSE: GVA) has been awarded a progressive design-build contract by the University of Washington for the Burke-Gilman Trail Transit Access, Safety Efficiency Improvements Project in Seattle, with a total construction value of approximately $12.3 million.

The project involves widening a one-mile section of the Burke-Gilman Trail on the UW campus, running from Rainier Vista to NE 47th Street. The Burke-Gilman Trail spans roughly 20 miles through Seattle and is a recreational trail.

Planned improvements include new paving, enhanced lighting, improved sight lines, ADA accessibility upgrades, drainage system enhancements, and better separation of travel modes in high-use areas.

The project began in June 2026 and is currently in the design phase. Construction is expected to start in spring 2027 and conclude in the first quarter of 2029. The contract was included in Granite's second quarter 2026 construction activity portfolio.
