BAE Systems (LON: BA) has been awarded a $149.8 million firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Navy for maintenance and modernization work on the USS Boxer (LHD 4), according to a company press release.

The contract, classified as a Selected Restricted Availability, covers maintenance, modernization, and repair work to be performed at Naval Base San Diego. The total value could reach $180 million if all options are exercised.

"Critical maintenance of the USS Boxer will support the U.S. Navy's vital mission to continue defending our nation," said Eric Icke, vice president and general manager of BAE Systems Maritime Solutions San Diego.

The work will be carried out at BAE Systems' San Diego facility, one of three full-service shipyards the company operates across California, Florida, and Virginia.
