GCT Semiconductor Holding, Inc. (NYSE: GCTS) announced a licensing agreement with an unnamed infrastructure provider for utilities and IoT to develop unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control and communication technologies, according to a company press release.

As part of the agreement, GCT is establishing a defense vertical to support dual-use technology applications in mission-critical and defense operations. The partnership will include integration of GCT's GDM7243i connectivity solution and IoT module.

The two companies previously worked together in the utility sector, deploying GCT's IoT modules in smart metering and grid modernization projects. The new agreement extends that relationship into logistics, security, and defense-related applications.

GCT is a fabless designer and supplier of 5G, 4G LTE, and satellite semiconductor solutions based in San Jose, California.
