Sonoco to raise EMEA paperboard prices by €60 per ton
Sonoco Products Company (NYSE: SON) announced it will increase prices for uncoated recycled paperboard grades sold in the EMEA region by €60 per ton, effective for all shipments on or after September 15, 2026.
The price increase applies to uncoated recycled paperboard grades sold by Sonoco S.a.r.l., a wholly owned subsidiary that operates 19 tubes and core plants and five paperboard mills in Europe.
Karsten Kemmerling, Division Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Industrial Paper Packaging in EMEA, cited inflationary pressures as the driver of the decision. "Geopolitical constraints and the continued inflationary business environment are driving cost increases across our operations and supply chain. Expected increases in energy and fuel costs are likely to further pressure our operating and transportation costs. As we are unable to absorb these additional costs, we are forced to pass them on to the market," Kemmerling said.
Sonoco, founded in 1899 and headquartered in the United States, reported net sales of $7.5 billion from continuing operations in 2025 and employs approximately 22,000 people across 263 operations in 37 countries.
