Ainos launches second-generation AI Nose for industrial deployment

August 17, 2026 9:02 AM

Ainos, Inc. (NASDAQ: AIMD, AIMDW) announced the second generation of its AI Nose platform, describing upgrades across software, firmware, edge computing and hardware components designed for continuous 24/7 operation in commercial and industrial environments.

According to a company press release, the updated platform includes a brushless motor pump intended to improve durability, an optimized airflow system for more consistent chemical sampling, enhanced on-device AI processing, and modular components designed to simplify maintenance. Over-the-air software updates allow deployed units to receive algorithm improvements remotely.

The company said its Smell AI Network has accumulated more than 878 million real-world smell data records gathered through field deployments. Ainos describes each deployed AI Nose unit as an edge node that contributes data to a central network, which the company uses to develop what it calls "Chemical Intelligence" — the conversion of airborne chemical signals into machine-readable data.

Ainos said it envisions applications across semiconductor manufacturing, AI data centers, smart manufacturing, healthcare, industrial safety, smart buildings and robotics.

"The second generation of AI Nose is more than a product upgrade. It represents an important step in our evolution toward Chemical Intelligence," said Eddy Tsai, Chairman, President and CEO of Ainos. "We are not trying to build a better gas sensor. Our ambition is much larger: to give AI the ability to understand chemistry."

The Houston-based company positions the platform as distinct from traditional gas sensors, which it says detect specific gases at predetermined concentration thresholds. Ainos claims its system captures broader chemical patterns for machine analysis.
