Oshkosh Defense, a unit of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), and the Marine Depot Maintenance Command (MDMC) demonstrated point-of-need digital parts manufacturing during Exercise Valiant Shield 2026, according to a company press release.

During the exercise, Oshkosh Defense worked with MDMC and authorized manufacturer MadeHere to produce an approved replacement part for the LVSR tactical vehicle in Japan using the AdvMFG Hub Digital Sustainment Platform (DSP), a secure repository of approved digital part files. The same part was simultaneously produced at MDMC's facility in Albany, Georgia, demonstrating that identical, configuration-controlled components could be manufactured across geographically dispersed locations using a common digital system.

The platform allows authorized users to manufacture replacement parts while Oshkosh Defense retains ownership of its intellectual property.

"Future conflicts will demand new approaches to sustainment, particularly in environments where traditional logistics networks may be constrained or contested," said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer at Oshkosh Defense. "Secure digital manufacturing gives maintainers the ability to produce approved replacement parts closer to the point of need, reducing maintenance delays, improving operational resilience, and helping keep critical vehicles in the fight."

The demonstration was aimed at showing how military units could reduce dependence on extended supply chains by producing mission-critical parts at or near the point of need, potentially shortening vehicle repair timelines during distributed operations.
