First Financial Bank names new Abilene region CEO as longtime leader retires
First Financial Bank, a subsidiary of First Financial Bankshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIN), has announced a series of leadership changes in its Abilene, Texas region, including the retirement of regional CEO Marelyn Shedd and the promotion of Marshall Morris to Chairman, President and CEO of the Abilene Region.
Shedd, who joined the bank as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending and rose to become the first woman to serve as Regional President in 2012 and Regional CEO in 2025, will retire on Dec. 31, 2026, after 35 years with the bank. She was recently inducted into the Texas Bankers Hall of Fame.
Morris, who joined First Financial Bank 15 years ago as a Credit Analyst, will assume his new role effective Sept. 1, 2026. He most recently served as Regional President for the Abilene Region and is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU.
The bank also promoted Evan Harris to Executive Vice President, Senior Relationship Manager - Construction and Development. Harris joined the bank 20 years ago and most recently served as Executive Vice President of Real Estate Lending.
Dayton Borger was promoted to Executive Vice President, Senior Relationship Manager - Commercial. Borger joined the bank 15 years ago as a Credit Analyst and most recently served as Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager and Branch Manager.
Tracy Howle will join the Abilene Region as Executive Vice President, Commercial Relationship Manager, effective Sept. 8, 2026. Howle joined First Financial Bank in 2025 as a Senior Portfolio Manager in San Angelo and previously served as Abilene Area President and Executive Vice President of Commercial Lending at First Bank Texas.
