Ceva and Actions Technology launch Bluetooth HDT audio chip series
Ceva, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEVA) and Actions Technology Co., Ltd. (688049.SH) announced the introduction of the Actions Technology ATS296X-series Bluetooth audio chips, powered by Ceva's Ceva-Waves Bluetooth High Data Throughput (HDT) platform, according to a press release dated Aug. 4, 2026.
The ATS296X-series is described as among the earliest commercial implementations of Bluetooth HDT technology, a feature associated with the upcoming Bluetooth 7.0 specification. Bluetooth HDT increases peak throughput from 2 Mbps to approximately 7.5 Mbps, enabling lossless multi-channel audio, lower-latency gaming audio, faster file transfers, and accelerated over-the-air software updates. The higher throughput also allows for multichannel home audio configurations, including wireless satellite speakers and subwoofers, which were not supported under previous Bluetooth stereo limitations.
The two companies have an existing relationship that has resulted in more than 100 million wireless audio SoCs integrating Ceva connectivity and sensing technologies. Actions Technology has licensed Ceva's Audio DSP IP for its audio processing pipelines for several years.

"The ATS296X series demonstrates that the Bluetooth HDT ecosystem is rapidly moving from specification to commercial products."
Jeffers Gong, General Manager of Portable Audio Business Unit at Actions Technology, said the ATS296X-series includes a proprietary dual-RF design intended to address multi-scenario concurrent operation requirements.
Ceva has participated in four industry interoperability events ahead of the official ratification of the next-generation Bluetooth Core Specification. The ATS296X-series is currently undergoing interoperability testing. Target applications include Bluetooth speakers, wireless microphones, and multichannel home audio systems.
