Gen (NASDAQ: GEN), the parent company of Norton, Avast, LifeLock and MoneyLion, launched the Fearless Planet Index (FPI) on Aug. 3, a continuously updated online hub that displays real-time data on scams, malware and identity threats across 245 countries and territories.

The tool is powered by telemetry from Gen Threat Labs and allows users to select a country to view its most active threats, track whether each threat has increased, decreased or remained stable since the previous day, and access guidance on how to respond.

According to data published at launch, the FPI detected more than 120 million phishing attacks in the most recent 30-day period. The index also shows that more than 80% of categorized threats were scams or malicious advertising rather than traditional malware.

Regional data from the index shows North America recorded the highest average digital risk at 29.6%, followed by Europe at 28.5%, Asia-Pacific at 27.4%, Middle East and Africa at 25.6%, and Latin America at 22.0%.

The FPI identified online shopping scams as among the most prevalent named scams across North America and Europe in July. Across several European countries, including Germany, Sweden, Norway, Belgium and the Czech Republic, online dating scams were also flagged as an active threat category.

Phishing was identified as the most prevalent scam category globally, though the index notes that the mix of threats varies by country.
