AECOM (NYSE: ACM) has been selected by ANA Aeroportos de Portugal S.A., part of the VINCI Airports group, to deliver the preliminary design for New Lisbon Airport, formally named Luis de Camões Airport, according to a press release from the Dallas-based infrastructure firm.

The new airport is planned to replace Lisbon's existing Humberto Delgado Airport, which has limited expansion potential. The site is located in the municipalities of Benavente and Montijo, partially occupying the existing Alcochete firing range, across the Tagus River from Lisbon.

AECOM will lead the project alongside local Portuguese partners, providing technical, design, and project management services during the initial phase of design development.

Richard Whitehead, chief executive of AECOM's Europe & India region, said the design approach will focus on passenger experience, operational efficiency, and flexibility for incremental expansion.

AECOM cited recent aviation projects including Boston Logan International Airport, Kuwait International Airport, and Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru. The company reported revenue of $16.1 billion in fiscal year 2025.
