The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued a 20-year renewal of the Source Materials License for enCore Energy Corp.'s (NASDAQ: EU) Dewey Burdock In-Situ Recovery Uranium Project in South Dakota, completing the federal permitting process for the site.

The license, designated SUA-1600, remains effective until June 2046. The renewal follows the NRC's recent issuance of an Environmental Assessment, a Finding of No Significant Impact, and a Programmatic Agreement on June 22, 2026. enCore also received authorization from the Bureau of Land Management to begin construction of infrastructure on portions of the project's public lands.

The Dewey Burdock Project covers 10,580 acres in South Dakota, including 10,340 acres of private surface rights and 240 acres of BLM surface rights. enCore, through its subsidiary Powertech USA, Inc., plans to extract uranium using the in-situ recovery process, which uses an oxygen and water-based solution to dissolve uranium minerals underground. The resulting yellowcake product is used to produce fuel for nuclear power reactors.

The project was approved for inclusion in the FAST-41 federal permitting acceleration program on August 28, 2025, with the NRC serving as lead agency. Despite receiving all required federal permits, the Dewey Burdock Project remains subject to additional permitting by the State of South Dakota before it can proceed to full operational status. enCore stated it has commenced the state permitting process.
