Methanex Corporation (TSX: MX) (NASDAQ: MEOH) announced that its board of directors has approved a Normal Course Issuer Bid allowing the company to purchase up to 3,868,213 common shares for cancellation, representing 5% of the 77,364,263 shares outstanding as of Oct. 29, 2026.
Purchases under the program may begin Nov. 4, 2026 and must conclude no later than Nov. 3, 2027. All shares acquired will be cancelled. Repurchases will be made at prevailing market prices through the NASDAQ Global Select Market and alternative trading systems in the United States under Rule 10b-18 of the U.S. Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
Daily repurchases through NASDAQ and alternative trading systems will be capped at 25% of the company's average daily trading volume for the four-week period preceding each purchase date, with certain exceptions for block purchases.
Methanex said it will enter into an automatic securities purchase plan with its broker to allow share purchases during self-imposed blackout periods. Outside of those periods, purchases will be made at management's discretion.
Rich Sumner, President and CEO, said, "With strong operational results and high methanol prices, we are making great progress on de-leveraging to a stronger and more resilient balance sheet and we are pleased to announce the opening of this share repurchase program that will allow us to return additional capital to our shareholders."
Methanex is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia.
