Item 8.01 Other Events.
On August 26, 2026, Unum Group, a Delaware corporation (the "Company"), issued a news release announcing that its Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to $1 billion of its outstanding shares of common stock from time to time beginning on September 1, 2026. The Company's current share repurchase program will continue in effect through August 31, 2026, at which time the current program will terminate and all subsequent repurchases will take place under the new program. A copy of the news release concerning the share repurchase authorization is filed herewith as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated herein by reference.
