Wounded Warrior Project Meet and Greet

SAN ANTONIO, July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Veterans do not always make it to networking events, particularly when child care is a factor. Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) recently teamed up with Family Endeavors to alleviate that problem during a family get-together.

Warriors and their families participated in the event, which focused on socialization and team-building activities. The adults spent the beginning of the afternoon getting to know each other while Family Endeavors provided free child care. During the second part of the day, the teenagers and older children were incorporated into the group for an adults-versus-kids family game. Toward the end of the day, each family convened to design their own family crests.

At these unique social events, warriors and their families can form friendships with others who have experienced all that comes with being a part of the nation's military. Bonding with other warrior families can be beneficial to the healing process.

"We have been truly amazed at all WWP does for warriors and their families," said Holly Weese, wounded warrior spouse. "I see my husband begin to come out of his shell when we attend these events."  

Holly said her family attended the get-together not only to meet new people, but also to obtain information from WWP program specialists about resources that personalize the recovery process for warriors.
