Vertellus Announces DEET Price Increase
Price increases for raw materials and newly announced tariffs on imports drive increase
INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Vertellus LLC, a leading specialty chemicals company, today announced a price increase for DEET (n,n-diethyl-toluamide). Effective for new orders shipping on or after October 15, 2018, Vertellus is increasing DEET pricing by 22%. The company cites significant and steady increases in the price of raw materials such as m-toluic acid and diethyl amine since the end of 2017 for the price increase. The increase also reflects a pass-through of substantial and widely-publicized tariffs on imports from China. Assuming the U.S. Government increases tariffs further in early 2019, Vertellus pricing will be revised to address further increased tariff cost.
