Passion for Baseball Gets Kids Helping Kids

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 05/27/15 -- What: Detroit PAL's Nationals will travel to New York to play West Side Little League's, the Hawks, at a Riverside Park matchup. Then, West Side Little Leaguers, 12-year-old, Nathan Murray and his brother Max Murray, host the Nationals for a tour of the city and a New York Mets game.

When: 4:15 p.m., Saturday, May 30 at 104th Street Ball Fields - Riverside Park on the South Field

Background: Nathan Murray and his brother Max Murray, share their grandfather's passion for Detroit Tigers history, first inspired by baseball legend Hank Greenberg's career with the team.

Both boys used bar mitzvah projects over the last two years to collect donations from family and friends for dozens of pairs of cleats, gloves and catcher's mitts for kids on Detroit PAL baseball teams.

Last year, the Murrays traveled to Detroit to watch their favorite Detroit PAL team, the Nationals, play and then participated in Max Scherzer's (former Tigers player) baseball clinic at Comerica Park.
