Mississippi ranked among top government websites in the nation
JACKSON, Miss.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mississippi’s award-winning website, ms.gov, has been recognized as one of the top five best government websites in the country. The Center for Digital Government awarded ms.gov with fourth place in the 2015 Best of the Web competition. This is the second time that Mississippi has placed in the top five list in the past four years.
“We are honored that the Center for Digital Government has distinguished Mississippi as a national leader,” said Dr. Craig Orgeron, Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Technology Services. “This award is yet another confirmation of the advances we are making to electronically connect with Mississippians, potential residents, and visitors to our state.”
The 2015 award-winning design of ms.gov included a number of enhancements that progress personalization and usability. These enhancements included tailored user settings allowing visitors to choose their own ms.gov theme, improved content access, an updated mobile-forward design, and the addition of MyMS, a service providing citizens with custom alerts and notifications.
The Best of the Web contest, which has been held annually for the past 20 years, seeks to discover, highlight, and award those government websites and applications that have stood out in the past year. Winners are selected based on functionality, productivity, innovation, and performance. Ms.gov received a fifth place award in 2012, and was in the top ten in 2013.
The ms.gov website was developed at no cost to the State of Mississippi by Mississippi Interactive, the state’s eGovernment partner, through a public-private partnership with the State of Mississippi. The award-winning ms.gov has been nationally recognized with over twenty-four awards in the past three years. For a full listing of the awards, click here.
