Jon Dormo Joins FirstEnergy to Advance New Power Generation Development

Experienced leader will identify and develop new opportunities for power generation

AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) has named Jon Dormo its Vice President of Generation Project Development.

Reporting to Chris Beam, FirstEnergy's President of West Virginia and Maryland, Dormo will lead efforts to plan and develop new power generation projects that help meet customers' future energy needs — a critical role as electricity demand continues to grow at a rapid pace. He will work with teams across the company and with community leaders, regulators and other stakeholders to explore opportunities to build reliable, affordable sources of electricity.

Jon Dormo Biography
Dormo brings nearly 20 years of experience in the energy industry across engineering, construction, operations, development, project management and strategic planning. Most recently, he served as Managing Director, Projects, at American Electric Power (AEP), where he led the siting and construction of AEP's new generation capital plan while maintaining responsibility for major project safety, environmental and construction across AEP's generation fleet.

Throughout his career, Dormo has helped plan, develop and build a wide range of energy projects, including gas generation, wind and solar facilities, substations and other electric infrastructure. His experience includes evaluating project risks, supporting permitting and development activities, negotiating engineering and construction contracts, managing capital investments and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to successfully move projects from early planning through construction and operation.

Dormo earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University and an MBA from Capital University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified Project Management Professional.

Maidsville Energy Center Proposal
The proposed Maidsville Energy Center reflects the type of project Dormo will help evaluate and advance as FirstEnergy plans for customers' future energy needs.

Mon Power and Potomac Edison, subsidiaries of FirstEnergy, are currently seeking approval from the Public Service Commission (PSC) of West Virginia for the project, a 1,200-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas plant near Fort Martin Power Station in Maidsville, and 70 megawatts of solar generation in Preston, Hancock and Tucker counties.

The companies expect a decision from the PSC later this year. Fort Martin and Harrison Power Station will remain in operation, in keeping with the companies Integrated Resource Plan, which outlines how Mon Power and Potomac Edison will continue delivering reliable, affordable power to customers over the next decade.
