Andrew Yang’s Noble Mobile Acquires SmartLess Mobile

Andrew Yang’s consumer telecom startup—the first carrier that pays users to be on their phones less—acquires SmartLess Mobile and unveils new product features including a “Brain Rot Index” and family leaderboards to encourage kids to minimize screen time.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Noble Mobile, the venture founded by entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang to rethink the consumer relationship with connectivity, today announced the acquisition of SmartLess Mobile, the mobile service venture established by the creators of the hit podcast SmartLess and backed by Thomvest.

This acquisition and new investment follow a landmark summer for Noble Mobile, less than a year after its launch in September of last year. In June, Noble Mobile announced the acquisition of Helium Mobile, another affordability-focused carrier, and its planned use of the Helium Network, the world’s largest people-powered network, which will expand Noble members' access to even more nationwide coverage.

Now its second acquisition this year, Noble Mobile has quickly become leaders in seamlessly transitioning wireless subscribers onto its innovative tech platform. In tandem with the acquisition, Noble Mobile recently rolled out a suite of proprietary digital wellness features designed for individuals and families:

• The Brain Rot Index (BRI): A real-time wellness metric built into the Noble Mobile app that tracks screen habits, doomscrolls, and phone pick-ups, converting complex screen-time metrics into an intuitive daily wellness score.
• Family Plan Wellness Leaderboards: Shared family account tools that track collective cash back earned from low screen-time milestones, as well as family-wide Brain Rot scores. Every month, households can rank members to encourage healthy, playful competition and cooperative digital habits.
