A.M.BestTV: European Insurance Markets Ripe for Innovation
OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- This second in a series of “First Monday” episodes spotlights a discussion with A.M. Best Managing Director, Analytics Greg Carter on the top issues in the European insurance markets, including technology, product design and regulation. Click on http://www.ambest.com/v.asp?v=fmeurope1115 to view the entire program.
The next “First Monday” episode will focus on how evolving fixed indexed annuity product designs are blurring the lines of distinction between fixed indexed annuities and variable annuities. “First Monday” is A.M. Best’s monthly program featuring commentary by the company's leading analysts.
There are many overreaching issues impacting the United Kingdom, Europe and beyond, Carter addressed the issue of how insurers are navigating the challenges surrounding the fragile stability in the Eurozone amid shifting regulations.
“In terms of the longer-term opportunities, obviously we have aging populations that give rise to a lot of opportunities, particularly for the life and savings type of services and products. But we also have improved mortality and morbidity. People are living longer and enjoying better lifestyles, but also are having to deal with some longer-term health issues that emerge as a result of their increased mortality. There's a great opportunity there for providers of services that support long-term retirement incomes and also health type products. Another key positive is the fact that many of the developed and mature economies are running economies that simply can't afford to support these aging populations,” said Carter.
Additionally, Carter talks about how technology is impacting European insurers, and shares his views on growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
On Nov. 4, 2015, A.M. Best will be holding its annual insurance market briefing in London. For more information, please visit http://www.ambest.com/conferences/imbe.
