A.M.BestTV: Axis’ CEO Albert Benchimol: PartnerRe Deal Will Move Company Up
OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- This A.M.BestTV episode features an interview with Albert Benchimol, president and chief executive officer at Axis Capital Holdings Limited (Axis), who looks at the upcoming closing of the merger between his company and PartnerRe Ltd (PartnerRe).
This merger will create a global company with a combined capital in excess of 14 billion, premiums in excess of 10 billion and an investment portfolio of more than 30 billion, thus creating one of the top market players in the property/casualty and reinsurance industries.
“Both companies were motivated to pursue this merger due to the complementary size, skill, capital and talent, which exists within both organizations,” said Benchimol. “We knew we could achieve more combined than either company could achieve separately.”
Benchimol also addressed the advantages this merger will have for PartnerRe. “PartnerRe is very strong on the reinsurance side and has been looking for a way to diversify into insurance as well as accident and health. This merger will elevate it to a stronger position, not only in the reinsurance world, but also will provide it with the opportunity to advance its accident and health strategy with very low risk.”
