FSBO.com Introduces New Digital Offer-to-Contract Technology to Modernize the Homebuying Process
PACT™, short for Purchase Agreement Creator Technology, brings buyers, sellers, and real estate professionals into one streamlined digital negotiation experience designed to reduce friction, simplify transactions, and ultimately help lower the costs associated with buying and selling a home.
PACT™ allows buyers to make an offer directly through a property listing and guides all parties through the negotiation process electronically. Sellers can review offers, counter individual terms, decline offers, request best and final submissions, and manage multiple competing offers within one centralized experience.
Once negotiations are complete, PACT™ generates one clean memorandum of understanding reflecting the final agreed-upon terms while maintaining a digital record of the negotiation history.
"Real estate has accepted an unnecessarily complicated offer process for far too long," said
The technology behind PACT™ was originally developed through Homepie, a company founded by Rice, and has since been significantly expanded and enhanced for FSBO.com.
Importantly, the experience is not limited to transactions where both parties are representing themselves. This is designed to accommodate transactions involving represented and unrepresented buyers and sellers alike.
When an agent is involved, that professional can continue managing the negotiation on behalf of the client while the buyer or seller maintains visibility into the process and remains responsible for reviewing and signing the applicable terms.
The platform also accounts for many of the circumstances encountered in traditional transactions, including multiple offers, contingencies, home-sale requirements, rent-back arrangements, individual counteroffers, and best-and-final negotiations.
By digitizing and simplifying a process that has historically required significant manual coordination, FSBO.com believes PACT™ can also contribute to a larger goal: reducing the overall cost and complexity associated with buying and selling real estate.
"This is much bigger than simply adding another feature to FSBO.com," said
The launch represents the next phase of a broader transformation underway at FSBO.com.
The company has focused on simplifying how homeowners create and market listings and now extends that experience from offer to agreement, the next phase will focus on what happens from contract to close.
In partnership with bevri.ai, FSBO.com is developing additional technology and infrastructure designed to connect the services, vendors, financing resources, and transaction support required to move a home sale from an accepted agreement through closing.
"Consumers should not have to understand every piece of an incredibly fragmented real estate ecosystem just to successfully complete a transaction," said
The PACT™ beta will initially be released to the FSBO.com community for real-world testing and feedback. The company will use that feedback to refine the experience ahead of its broader final release.
For Kortas and Rice, the ultimate opportunity extends beyond FSBO transactions alone.
"PACT™ can eventually live far beyond FSBO.com," Kortas said. "Whether someone is represented by an agent or not, there should be a simple, transparent way to make an offer on a property and negotiate it digitally. If we can remove unnecessary work, reduce mistakes, streamline the transaction and ultimately lower the cost of buying or selling a home, that is meaningful innovation."
With PACT™, FSBO.com continues moving toward a larger vision: creating a more connected digital experience that helps consumers list and market a home, move from offer to agreement, and ultimately progress from contract to close, while eliminating unnecessary friction, inefficiency, and cost from the real estate transaction.
