QuTwo's AI compression enables F-Secure scam protection to run on consumer devices, keeping user data on-device and delivering advanced protection in multiple languages

HELSINKI, Oct. 26, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- F-Secure, a leader in consumer cyber security and scam protection, and QuTwo, a European AI lab for the quantum era, today announced that their partnership is expanding into model compression. Building on the strategic partnership the two companies announced back in May, QuTwo will apply its recently launched quantum-inspired AI compression to threat detection models, making them small enough to run directly on consumer devices. This brings advanced scam and AI threat protection closer to the consumer, and F-Secure customers and partners will be the first to benefit.

Consumers need protection as intelligent as the AI powered threats they face

Malicious actors increasingly reach consumers through the messages, social media, and multimedia on their phones. AI that runs on the device itself can analyse a message or any other event the moment it arrives, or tell the scam warning signs in a video message, which means stronger privacy, instant responses and protection that works even without a network connection.

Capable AI models, small enough for every device

Spotting today's scams takes AI that understands the context and intent of a message or media, across languages and media formats, rather than just looking for suspicious words. The current models capable of advanced threat protection are too large to run on a phone, meaning messages and events are typically sent elsewhere to be analyzed. Model compression shrinks these threat detection models to a fraction of their size while keeping accuracy, so they can run on the phone itself.

QuTwo's AI compression combines industry-standard methods with a proprietary quantum-inspired precision-recovery layer, which recovers much of the accuracy that standard methods lose. In recent tests on Finland's LUMI supercomputer, QuTwo compressed models across seven model families by 90% or more while keeping 91-95% of their quality. Applied to consumer security, the same technology makes it possible to bring advanced AI protection to the devices people use every day.
