EDEN RADIOISOTOPES ADVANCES $1.4 BILLION NEW MEXICO MEDICAL ISOTOPE PROJECT

State support, selection of Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Co. and continued partnership with Sargent & Lundy mark major steps toward development of first-of-its-kind U.S. medical isotope production facility

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Eden Radioisotopes today announced significant progress toward development of its planned medical isotope production facility in Lea County, New Mexico, including support from the State of New Mexico and the selection of key partners to advance engineering, licensing and construction of the project.

Economic Development New Mexico announced that the state will support Eden's planned investment of up to $1.4 billion through the Job Training Incentive Program, high-wage and rural job tax credits, and LEDA GRT Share. The project is expected to create 205 jobs statewide and generate more than $1.5 billion in economic impact over 10 years.

Eden has also selected Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Co. [Kiewit] as its nuclear engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner to support the project. Sargent & Lundy, which has worked with Eden throughout development of the facility, will continue supporting the project with architecture, engineering and regulatory services.

Together, these milestones represent another significant step toward construction of what is planned to be North America's first purpose-built medical isotope production reactor and processing facility.

More than 40,000 medical procedures performed every day in the United States rely on medical isotopes, yet the country remains dependent on aging reactors and overseas producers for much of its supply. Because many medical isotopes decay rapidly and cannot be stockpiled, interruptions in production or transportation can quickly affect hospitals, physicians and patients.

Eden is developing a domestic source of medical isotopes designed specifically to address that vulnerability. Its Lea County facility will produce isotopes used in diagnostic imaging and targeted cancer treatment, strengthening the reliability and resilience of the U.S. medical isotope supply chain.

The project also builds on New Mexico's decades-long leadership in nuclear science and technology. Eden's reactor technology is based on research developed at Sandia National Laboratories, while the state's universities and technical workforce provide an important foundation for development of a new generation of nuclear professionals.

Eden filed its Construction Permit Application in May with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and anticipates a formal NRC decision in mid-2027. The company expects to be commercially operational in 2030.
