Americas Cardroom Player Turns PLO Misclick Into $250,000 Mystery Bounty

R88P entered the wrong $2,650 Venom, then hit the PLO event's bounty.

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- An accidental tournament registration produced a $250,000 Mystery Bounty for Americas Cardroom player "R88P," who meant to enter the $12 Million GTD No-Limit Hold'em Mystery Bounty Venom but instead registered for the separate $3 Million GTD Pot-Limit Omaha event. Both tournaments carried a $2,650 buy-in.

Unable to cancel the confirmed registration, R88P stayed in the PLO tournament and advanced to Day 2 last Monday. Mystery Bounties became active that day, with every remaining player already in the money and each knockout revealing the eliminated player's hidden bounty.

One of R88P's Day 2 knockouts delivered the PLO event's largest possible bounty: $250,000.

The two Mystery Bounty Venoms ran as separate multi-day events despite sharing the same buy-in. R88P's original plan was to enter the No-Limit Hold'em event only, but the confirmed PLO registration sent the player into the other tournament instead.

The No-Limit Hold'em tournament had a $500,000 top Mystery Bounty, while the Pot-Limit Omaha tournament's top bounty was $250,000. The unusual result was later shared on X, turning the accidental registration into the centerpiece of a quarter-million-dollar poker story.

R88P ultimately finished 13th in the PLO event, collecting $10,840 in prize money and $265,000 in total bounties. The PLO prize pool reached $3,095,000, exceeding its $3 Million guarantee.

After the win, R88P asked the poker site to increase his cryptocurrency withdrawal limits. The request was handled immediately, allowing the player to process the substantial withdrawal faster and more smoothly.
