H.C. Wainwright Starts Genprex (GNPX) at Buy

H.C. Wainwright analyst Yi Chen initiates coverage on Genprex (NASDAQ: GNPX) with a Buy rating and a price target of $10.00.

The analyst commented: "Genprex is a clinical-stage gene therapy company primarily focused on the development of therapeutic candidates for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The lead candidate, Reqorsa (quaratusugene ozeplasmid), is a plasmid that expresses a tumor suppressor gene—TUSC2. Reqorsa is delivered via the company’s non-viral Oncoprex nanoparticle delivery system, i.e. plasmids are encapsulated within lipid nanoparticles and administered intravenously to the patient to re-express the deleted TUSC2. Reqorsa works through a multimodal mechanism of action, whereby it interrupts cell signaling pathways that cause replication and proliferation of cancer cell, re-establish pathways for apoptosis, and modulates the immune response against cancer calls. Notably, Reqorsa has been shown to complement marketed targeted drugs and immunotherapies and improve their efficacy. Reqorsa is being evaluated in three clinical trials: (1) Acclaim-1: the combination of Reqorsa and Tagrisso (osimertinib) for patients with late-stage NSCLC that has activating EGFR mutations and progression after treatment with Tagrisso; (2) Acclaim-2: the combination of Reqorsa and Keytruda (pembrolizumab) for patients with late-stage NSCLC whose disease has progressed after treatment with Keytruda; and (3) Acclaim-3: the combination of Reqorsa and Tecentriq (atezolizumab) as maintenance therapy in patients with extensive stage SCLC (ES-SCLC). The Phase 2 expansion portion of Acclaim-1 has started patient dosing; the Phase 1 dose escalation portion of Acclaim-2 could complete enrollment in 2H24; and the Phase 1 dose escalation portion of Acclaim-3 is open for enrollment. We are initiating coverage with a Buy rating and 12-month price target of $10 per share."
