Xilio Therapeutics names new chief medical officer

Xilio Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLO) has appointed Yariv J. Houvras, M.D., Ph.D. as chief medical officer, the clinical-stage biotechnology company announced Sept. 28, 2026.

Dr. Houvras brings more than 20 years of experience in clinical development, translational medicine, and immuno-oncology. He most recently served as senior vice president of clinical and translational development at Tubulis GmbH, where he oversaw antibody-drug conjugate programs in solid tumors and led multiple first-in-human and registration-enabling clinical studies. Tubulis was subsequently acquired by Gilead Sciences, Inc.

Before Tubulis, Dr. Houvras was senior medical director of hematology and translational sciences at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he served as the physician for linvoseltamab, a bispecific T cell engager, from first-in-human studies through regulatory approval in both the U.S. and European Union.

Earlier in his career, he held academic positions at Weill Cornell Medical College and Harvard Medical School. He completed his internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and oncology and hematology fellowships at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in journals including Nature, Cell, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

René Russo, Pharm.D., president and chief executive officer of Xilio, said Dr. Houvras has "a proven track record of leading complex global clinical development programs from first-in-human studies through registrational Phase 3 trials and regulatory approvals."

Xilio is currently advancing XTX501, a bispecific PD-1/masked IL-2 therapy, in clinical trials, alongside a pipeline of multi-specific masked T cell engagers.
