SVRN names Patrick O'Kain as chief operating officer
SVRN, Inc. (NASDAQ: SVRN) appointed Patrick O'Kain as Chief Operating Officer, effective November 2, 2026, according to a company statement.
O'Kain joins from Borderless Capital, a digital asset investment firm, where he served as General Partner overseeing fundraising, investments, and operations. He previously co-led KPMG's crypto advisory practice and served as a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Justice, where he helped develop the agency's cryptocurrency investigative strategies. He began his career in the U.S. Intelligence Community focused on counterterrorism and national security, and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School.
In his new role, O'Kain will lead SVRN's operations, product strategy, and corporate development, including integration of acquired businesses.
David Schwed, who has served as Chief Operating Officer since October 2025, will transition to the role of Senior Advisor effective January 1, 2027. Schwed is credited with guiding the company through its transition from OceanPal Inc. to SVRN, Inc.
"Trust between senior leaders often takes months to form. I've known Patrick for years, and scaling KPMG's crypto advisory practice with him is why I'm certain he is the right hire to accelerate the business," said Sal Ternullo, Chief Executive Officer of SVRN.
O'Kain previously worked with Ternullo at KPMG. The appointment follows a year in which SVRN expanded its operations to include NEAR Protocol infrastructure management and completed its first acquisition, FastNEAR.
