STAAR Surgical names Warren Foust as permanent CEO

STAAR Surgical Company (NASDAQ: STAA) announced the appointment of Warren Foust as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 4, 2026, following a global search conducted by its board of directors.

Foust, who joined STAAR in April 2023 as Chief Operating Officer, has served as President and Chief Operating Officer since March 2025 and as Interim Co-CEO since February 2026. He will also join the board of directors. Prior to STAAR, he held senior roles at Johnson & Johnson, including Worldwide President of Surgical Vision and Worldwide President of Mentor, along with positions at DePuy Synthes, Aventis Pharmaceuticals, and Roche Pharmaceuticals.

Deborah Andrews, who served as Interim Co-CEO alongside Foust, will transition to the role of Executive Vice President while continuing as Chief Financial Officer, also effective August 4, 2026. Andrews rejoined STAAR in March 2025 and was appointed CFO in June 2025. She previously served as CFO at STAAR from 2005 to 2013 and again from September 2017 until her retirement in 2020.

Board Chair Neal C. Bradsher said in a statement that Foust "brings exceptional judgment, operational discipline, and a clear focus on change and innovation."

Foust noted in the announcement that the company had "just completed the strongest first half in our Company's history, marked by robust year-over-year growth, increasing profitability, and accelerating market share momentum," adding that sequential growth in China reflected share gains and the launch of the EVO+ product line.

STAAR, headquartered in Lake Forest, California, makes implantable lenses for vision correction and operates manufacturing facilities in California and Switzerland.
