Profound Medical names Richard Fabian as president
Profound Medical Corp. (NASDAQ: PROF; TSX: PRN) has appointed Richard Fabian as president, effective immediately, according to a press release from the Toronto-based medical device company.
Fabian succeeds Mathieu Burtnyk, PhD, who moves to a newly created role of Chief Technology Officer. Burtnyk is credited as the inventor of the patented closed-loop temperature feedback control algorithm used in the company's TULSA-PRO device and has led clinical studies for the technology, including the ongoing CAPTAIN randomized controlled trial.
Fabian brings more than 29 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with a background in medical imaging and medical devices. He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Fujifilm Sonosite, Inc., a point-of-care ultrasound company. Before that role, which began in 2017, he held multiple executive positions at Philips Healthcare, a division of NYSE and AEX-listed Royal Philips, starting in 2002 as Senior Director in the Cardiovascular X-ray Business Unit in North America. Earlier in his career, he served as VP of Sales at Noetix Corporation and VP of Operations at Steris Corporation.
Fabian holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.
"Rich is a seasoned leader with a strong track record of delivering profitable growth to both established and emerging healthcare businesses," said Arun Menawat, Profound's CEO and Chairman.
