LightPath Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: LPTH) has appointed Scott Payette as Vice President of LightPath and General Manager of its G5 Infrared subsidiary, effective October 12, 2026, according to a company press release.
G5 Infrared, based in Hudson, New Hampshire, was acquired by LightPath in February 2025. The subsidiary designs and manufactures cooled infrared camera systems for defense, border security, and counter-drone applications.
Payette brings more than 30 years of experience in photonics, optical systems, and infrared technology. Most recently, he served as Director of Production at Anduril Industries, where he oversaw new product introduction and production line development for infrared optical systems. Prior to that role, he was Chief Operating Officer at Copious Imaging, a developer of AI-based infrared detection sensors.
Earlier in his career, Payette co-founded Diamond Turning, Inc., which was acquired by OASYS Technology in 2006. As Managing Partner of OASYS, he was involved in the company's 2010 acquisition by BAE Systems. He later led optical component businesses at BAE Systems and Wilcox Industries. He holds an MBA from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and is a co-inventor on a U.S. patent for optical coating technology.
Sam Rubin, President and CEO of LightPath, said G5 is currently ramping cooled infrared camera production against what he described as some of the largest orders in the company's history. Rubin also noted that the company is finalizing a redesign of the G5 cooled camera family to incorporate LightPath's proprietary BlackDiamond glass.
Payette's appointment follows the recent promotion of Michael Amorelli to VP Engineering, Imaging Systems, which Rubin described as a strengthening of the company's imaging systems leadership team.
