HiBid appoints Ross Paul as chief technology officer

HiBid, an online auction platform based in Lincoln, Neb., and Chicago, has named Ross Paul as its chief technology officer, according to a press release.

Paul most recently served as CTO of Phillips, an auction house, where he rebuilt the technology organization and core infrastructure, including a new bidding engine and mobile bidding app. Before that, he served as CTO of 1stDibs (Nasdaq: DIBS), joining at Series A and leading the company's engineering through its initial public offering.

Earlier in his career, Paul was Vice President of Engineering at MLB Advanced Media, where he built real-time and live-streaming products. He began his career as a developer in Lockheed Martin's Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. He holds two U.S. patents in real-time classification and live data synchronization, and an undergraduate degree in Computational Neuroscience from Cornell University.

In his new role, Paul will lead HiBid's engineering organization and platform modernization efforts. HiBid combines the HiBid.com online auction marketplace with AuctionFlex, its seller management system.

Founded in 2000, HiBid reports more than $2 billion in annual gross merchandise value across nearly 300 million annual sessions. The company is backed by Primus Capital and ParkerGale.
