Hanover Bancorp names Kevin O'Connor as president

Hanover Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: HNVR) has appointed Kevin O'Connor as president of the company and its subsidiary, Hanover Community Bank, effective July 27, 2026, according to a press release from the Mineola, New York-based institution.
O'Connor brings more than 35 years of banking experience to the role. He most recently served as Long Island Market President at Valley Bank. Before that, he served as chief executive officer of Dime Community Bank, which was formed through a 2021 merger with Bridgehampton National Bank. O'Connor had led Bridgehampton National Bank as chief executive officer and president beginning in 2007. He has also held senior positions at North Fork Bank and KPMG.
Michael P. Puorro, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Hanover Bancorp, said in the release: "Kevin is a highly respected banking leader whose deep market knowledge, relationship-driven approach and longstanding commitment to Long Island will be an outstanding addition to Hanover Bank."
O'Connor commented: "I am excited to join Hanover Bank and work with Mike and the team to continue its growth across Long Island."
O'Connor currently serves on the board of directors and executive committee of HIA-LI and is an executive committee member of the board of trustees for Suffolk County Community College. He chairs the Long Island chapter of Habitat for Humanity and serves on the boards of United Veterans Beacon House and Pursuit Lending. He is also a former Long Island and New York State chair of the New York Bankers Association.
Hanover Community Bank operates branch locations across the New York metropolitan area, including sites in Mineola, Garden City Park, Hauppauge, Port Jefferson, Forest Hills, Flushing, Sunset Park, Rockefeller Center, and Bowery, as well as a location in Freehold, New Jersey.
