Destination XL names board chairman as interim CEO

August 6, 2026 5:35 PM EDT

Destination XL Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: DXLG) announced that Lionel Conacher, the company's board chairman, has been named interim chief executive officer, effective August 12, 2026.

Conacher's appointment follows the previously announced retirement of Harvey Kanter, who will step down as CEO on August 11, 2026, and will also leave the board at that time. Kanter served as CEO for more than seven years.

Conacher has served on DXL's board since June 2018 and as chairman since August 2020. He will retain his role as chairman while serving as interim CEO. In connection with the appointment, he will step down as chair of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Compensation Committee. Carmen Bauza has been appointed lead independent director.

The board said it plans to conduct a search for a permanent CEO. Conacher previously served as interim chief executive officer of SRx Health Solutions, Inc. from September 2022 to May 2023, and has held roles including managing partner of Next Ventures and president and chief operating officer of investment bank Thomas Weisel Partners.

The leadership transition comes as DXL is navigating a proposed merger with FBB Holdings I, Inc., the parent of FullBeauty Brands, and an unsolicited tender offer from Zodiac Partners II, LLC. DXL has filed a preliminary proxy statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission in connection with the proposed merger.

"I am honored to take on the role of Interim CEO at an important time for DXL," Conacher said, citing cost reduction efforts and strategic priorities including the company's FiTMAP rollout and investments in artificial intelligence.
