Clearway Energy names new CFO and controller amid leadership shuffle

Clearway Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CWEN) announced a series of senior leadership changes, including a new chief financial officer and a new controller, effective October 1, 2026, according to a company statement.

Steven Ryder will become CFO of Clearway Energy, Inc., succeeding Sarah Rubenstein, who is moving to a newly created role as Head of the Transformation Office at Clearway Energy Group LLC. In that role, Rubenstein will focus on digital and data transformation, including the use of automation and artificial intelligence. Ryder will retain his existing position as CFO of Clearway Energy Group.

Ryder has served as CFO of Clearway Energy Group for eight years, overseeing corporate finance, risk, financial planning and analysis, and capital markets. Before joining Clearway, he was CFO at Invenergy LLC, a Chicago-based clean energy developer, and previously held finance roles at GE Energy Financial Services, the International Finance Corporation, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and AT&T.

Samantha Prout joined the company immediately as Senior Vice President, Accounting and Controller. She most recently served as Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at Amicus Therapeutics (Nasdaq: FOLD), a role she held since 2018. Prior to that, she held accounting leadership positions at NRG Energy, Inc. from 2015 to 2018, and spent 15 years at KPMG LLP earlier in her career.
