Chubb names Sean Ringsted chief scientist in new AI-focused role

Chubb Limited (NYSE: CB) has appointed Sean Ringsted as Chief Scientist and Executive Vice President of Chubb Group, effective immediately. The role is newly created and will focus on the company's artificial intelligence, data, and analytics strategy and initiatives worldwide.

Ringsted most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Business Officer at Chubb, where he led the company's AI efforts globally and oversaw its digital business unit. He has held various senior roles at Chubb and its predecessor, ACE Group, over more than three decades, including Chief Risk Officer from 2008 to 2023 and Chief Digital Officer beginning in 2017. He also served as Chief Actuary from 2004 to 2017.

Evan Greenberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chubb Group, said in a statement: "This appointment amplifies how important our initiatives around AI and data are to our fundamental strategy. It also reflects Sean's long-standing role as a most trusted partner and colleague to me and the senior team."

Ringsted holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Bristol University and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Biochemistry from Oxford University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
