Casella Waste Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CWST) announced that Chairman and CEO John Casella will transition to Executive Chairman effective January 1, 2026, with President Ned Coletta succeeding him as CEO.
Coletta will also join the board of directors as a Class II director on the same date. As Executive Chairman, John Casella will continue to serve as board chair and support strategic development, stakeholder engagement and organizational culture in collaboration with the new CEO.
John Casella joined the company in 1976, one year after his brother Doug founded it. He has led the growth of the Vermont-based waste management company into what the company describes as a regional leader in solid waste, recycling and resource management services in the eastern United States.
"I am incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work from our entire Casella team over five decades," John Casella stated. "It has been my privilege to lead this company and witness its evolution into an industry leader committed to sustainability and innovation."
Coletta joined Casella in December 2004 and has held several leadership positions including President and Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, and Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations. Before joining Casella, he co-founded and served as CFO of Avedro Inc. and worked in research and development engineering at Lockheed Martin Michoud Space Systems.
Coletta holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University.
"Our success has always been driven by our talented and dedicated people," Coletta said. "I am honored to lead the Casella team as we continue to innovate and deliver sustainable resource management solutions."
The information is based on a company press release statement.
