Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE: CRS) announced that its board of directors has appointed Brian Malloy as chief executive officer, effective July 1, 2026. Malloy currently serves as president and chief operating officer.
Tony Thene, who currently holds the roles of chairman and CEO, will transition to executive chairman of the board. In this role, Thene will guide strategy, maintain stakeholder relationships and provide board leadership.
Malloy has served as chief operating officer since 2023 and has been with Carpenter Technology for 10 years. During his tenure, he has held positions including senior vice president and group president of SAO and PEP, and chief commercial officer.
Before joining Carpenter Technology, Malloy was senior vice president and chief strategy officer at Ametek's Global Precision Tubes business. He previously held leadership positions at Alcoa, Inc., most recently as vice president of Industrial Gas Turbines within the Power and Propulsion business unit.
"I am honored to be named the next CEO of Carpenter Technology," Malloy stated in the announcement. "Tony's strategic vision has reshaped Carpenter Technology by building a culture of performance, strengthening our market position, and delivering meaningful value for all stakeholders."
Steve Ward, lead independent director, said the board selected Malloy based on his knowledge of the business and execution record. Ward noted that Thene's transition to executive chairman ensures continuity and strengthens strategic oversight.
