CAPREIT names James Lawrence as chief operating officer
Canadian Apartment Properties Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: CAR.UN), known as CAPREIT, has appointed James Lawrence as Chief Operating Officer, effective September 1, 2026.
Lawrence brings more than 25 years of real estate experience to the role. He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer for CBRE's Property Management business in Canada, where he was responsible for evolving the operating model and executing investments to support growth.
Lawrence holds an Honours degree in Biological Science from the University of Guelph, a Master of Management and Professional Accounting from the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and holds a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation.
Brad Cutsey, CAPREIT's President and Chief Executive Officer, commented: "James has an impressive track record of bringing together people, technology and processes to enhance performance and operational excellence. That experience is highly complementary to the breadth of expertise in place across CAPREIT's senior leadership team, and will be an invaluable asset as we move forward and continue to build on CAPREIT's success."
According to a press release statement, CAPREIT owns approximately 45,400 residential apartment suites and townhomes located across Canada and the Netherlands, with a total fair value of approximately $14.4 billion as of June 30, 2026.
