Natera loses patent ruling in NeoGenomics litigation

Natera Inc. (NASDAQ: NTRA) disclosed that a U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina invalidated certain patent claims the company asserted against NeoGenomics Inc.'s v1.1 RaDaR test.

The court ruling affects two patents that Natera had used in its intellectual property litigation against NeoGenomics. Natera stated it is evaluating options including an appeal and enforcement through other patents in its portfolio.

The company emphasized that the invalidated patents are separate from U.S. Patent No. 11,519,035, which previously secured a permanent injunction that forced NeoGenomics to remove its RaDaR v1.0 product from the market. The court decision does not affect the validity or enforceability of that patent, according to Natera.

Natera operates more than 500 issued or pending patents worldwide across its cell-free DNA and genetic testing business focused on oncology, women's health, and organ health. The Austin, Texas-based company maintains laboratories in Texas and California.

The information was disclosed in a press release statement from Natera.
